Med Surg RN Job in Cape Girardeau, MO

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking an experienced RN for a 91-day travel assignment in Medical-Surgical Neurosciences. You'll work the night shift (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) on a 12-hour schedule, three days per week, with 36 guaranteed hours weekly.

Your Role:

• Provide direct patient care to medical and surgical neuroscience patients, including those with Parkinson's disease, stroke, lumbar conditions, and similar diagnoses (no trauma)
• Manage a 1:6 patient ratio on a 17-bed unit
• Administer medications, wound care, and IV therapy, including central line care
• Monitor, record, and report patient symptoms and condition changes
• Develop and modify nursing care plans based on patient responses
• Recognize adverse signs and respond quickly in emergency situations
• Supervise and delegate duties to unlicensed assistive personnel and ancillary staff
• Float to Med Surg and Progressive Care units as needed

Requirements:

• Current RN license
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Charge experience or willingness to learn and assume charge duties
• Neuro and stroke experience highly preferred
• BLS certification required; NIH Stroke Scale certification (can be completed at orientation)

Compensation: $1,971 per week. Assignment begins August 24, 2026.
