NICU RN Job in Chandler, AZ

You will work as a registered nurse in the NICU at Chandler Regional Medical Center, providing direct patient care to neonates and supporting families during critical transitions. This is a 98-week travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026.

Schedule and Pay

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• 4 weekend shifts required in a 4-week cycle (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday counted as weekend for nights)
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
• Self-scheduling with scheduler review to balance unit needs
• Weekly pay: $2,334

Experience and Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience
• Level II NICU experience required; Level III preferred
• Recent experience required within the past 6 months
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• STABLE certification preferred
• Pass/fail Sim Lab assessment for foley catheter insertion required on Day 1 of orientation

Unit Details

• 12 private NICU rooms and 18 Step Care Nursery (SCN) beds in a pod-based setup
• Patient ratios: NICU 2:1, SCN 3:1
• May assume charge nurse responsibilities based on census
• 2-shift orientation with preceptor support provided
• Will float to sister facility (Mountain View Medical Center) when needed; will not float to other NICU departments

Clinical Support and Resources

• 24/7 support from neonatal nurse practitioners and respiratory therapy
• Neonatologist on-site during day shifts
• 24/7 pharmacy access with tube system adjacent to unit
• Equipment: GE Monitors, Puritan Bennett 840, Draeger, Vision BiPAP, and V60 ventilators
• Charting system: Cerner
• Navy scrubs

Patient Population

You will care for NICU patients 28 weeks gestation and above with diagnoses including respiratory complications, respiratory distress syndrome, hyperbilirubinemia, pneumothorax, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN), intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), meconium aspiration, chorioamnionitis, transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN), and sepsis. You will manage PICC lines, UAC/UVC, chest tubes, passive cooling, and exchange transfusions. SCN patients include lower-level diagnoses such as CPAP, blood transfusions, and neonatal abstinence syndrome.
