Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holidays worked in rotation with permanent staff
• First to float designation
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2
• Float between ICU and CCU and possibly telemetry (1:4 ratio); opportunity to float to ER with training provided
• 2-3 shifts of floor-specific orientation on unit; 1 shift of tele orientation if needed; 3 shifts of ER orientation if floating to ER
• 12-bed CCU and 12-bed ICU unit
• EMR system: Meditech; Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Navy
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, CHF, COPD, and vented patients in ICU; balloon pumps, post cath, open heart, lobectomies, thrombectomies, and spinals in CCU (travelers cannot take open heart or balloon pump patients)
• Experience managing drips including cardizem, diprovan, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, fentanyl, and versed required
• Ventilator experience required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips required
• GE telemetry/monitor tech available when census is high enough
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• All independent physicians on staff (no hospitalist or intensivist in house)
• No IV team on staff
• No nurse aides on unit
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and advanced EKG dysrhythmia course
• BSN not required
• Valid California nursing license required
