PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Patient ratio of 1:5 for days, nights, and weekends
• 2 years of experience required; previous charge and teaching hospital experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• 8 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Block scheduling not available
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts must match the regular assigned shift length
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include: cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry (on-unit and remote monitoring), use of rapid response teams, post cardiac angiogram care, post MI care, pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, blood product administration, central line care and management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, managing cardiac drips (no titration), titrating cardiac drips, PCA, procedural sedation administration, CVA management, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Unit census: 31 beds
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
