RN - Oncology

Job Details:

• Work on the 8S Oncology unit in an 8-building south tower
• Unit has 21 beds with a typical census of 8-12 patients
• Patient ratios estimated at 1:3/4 with flex to 5
• Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, and 1 PCT
• Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, and 1 PCT
• Rotating weekends required with no on-call responsibilities
• Oncology background required - candidates without this experience will not be considered
• Hematology/oncology background and chemotherapy certification preferred
• Typical procedures include replacing blood and electrolytes
• Will float to hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant units as needed
• Must follow unit guidelines including neutropenic precautions, strict intake and output monitoring, CHG bath and linen change every 24 hours, dressing changes every 7 days, and lines and caps every 96 hours
• Work with Baxter pumps and use Meditech EMR system
• Required dress code: Royal blue scrubs
• Required certifications: RN, BLS
• Tuesday start dates required
