PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekday shifts with some weekend coverage required
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4 with flexibility to 1:5 in emergencies
• Blocked schedules considered for weekend blocks only (Fri, Sat, Sun or Sat, Sun, Mon)
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Tele experience and 2 years of Stepdown experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Required certifications: BCLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Required skills: IV start and telemetry monitoring
• Charting system: Cerner experience required
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Primary patient diagnoses include cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, as well as med/surg and general medical patients
• Required clinical skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care and management, heparin protocols, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, peripheral and PICC line management, telemetry monitoring, and wound care
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• WV or Compact nursing license required
