About this role

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry position in Wilmington, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting September 28, 2026, paying $2,043.79 weekly.

Position Overview

You will work nights on a 3x12 schedule (36–48 hours per week) in the ED Holding Unit (EDIP), an inpatient holding area within the Emergency Department. You'll care for adult medical and surgical patients, including those requiring PCU-level care, with target ratios of 1:6 for Med-Surg/Tele patients or 1:4 for PCU-level patients. You must be willing to float to the ED and Med-Surg areas as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Travel healthcare experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Every other weekend required; maximum 7 days unpaid time off (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Contract staff assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Core Clinical Skills

You must demonstrate proficiency in Med-Surg/Tele nursing, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring, Rapid Response Team coordination, feeding tube and colostomy care, renal failure management, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management.

Preferred Skills

NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, hemodialysis pre/post care, port access, central line blood draws, IV starts, CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injury care, traumatic brain injury management, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac experience are preferred.

Work Environment

You will use Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medications, and SBAR for communication. Unit orientation is 12 hours. Wear navy scrubs. Scheduling is managed by the unit manager. Due to the high-acuity patient population, all candidates will be interviewed.
