Med Surg RN Job in Weirton, WV

WVU Weirton Medical Center is seeking an RN (Registered Nurse) for a 91-day travel assignment on the Med-Surg unit. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three days per week, with every other weekend required. Holiday rotation participation may be requested. There is no on-call or standby requirement.

Role Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5–7 on days and 1:6–8 on nights
• Titrate drips including heparin, bumex, and lasix; cardiac drip titration is not required
• Monitor patients while respiratory therapy manages breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and equipment such as BiPap, CPAP, and high flow O2
• A dedicated monitor technician on level 5 manages telemetry for all patients and alerts nursing staff; you are not expected to read and interpret strips
• Patient care technicians (approximately 1:10–12 ratio) handle vitals, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, heart monitor application, bathing, feeding, toileting, and positioning
• You may be floated to other Med-Surg, Med-Surg Telemetry, or IMC units for lower acuity patients
• Common patient diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness

Schedule and Assignment

• Rotating shifts typically alternate between 2 weeks of days and 2 weeks of nights
• The unit manager manages your schedule with consideration for requested time off; flexibility is expected to fill gaps in the permanent schedule
• Assignment begins November 16, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,208

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers are accepted
• Current RN license and BLS certification required
• BSN is not required
• Navy blue scrubs
• You must reside outside a 50-mile radius; copy of unexpired driver's license required at submission
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
