Med Surg RN Job in Greensburg, PA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on the Medical Surgical unit at Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA. This is a 119-day travel assignment starting September 14, 2026, with 3x12 rotating shifts and weekly pay of $1,974.

What You'll Do

You'll care for medical non-monitored patients and post-operative patients recovering from joint replacement, weight loss management, and general surgery. Your unit has 27 rooms and 34 beds, and you'll work with patient ratios of 6 patients per nurse across day, night, and weekend shifts. You'll treat patients across all age groups—adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Your responsibilities include:

• Accessing and managing ports, PICC lines, and peripheral lines
• Blood product administration and central line blood draws
• Chest tube and tracheostomy management
• Colostomy and ileostomy care
• Feeding tube care and continuous bladder irrigation
• Wound care and wound vac management
• High-flow nasal cannula and heparin administration
• Pre- and post-hemodialysis and thoracic surgery care
• IV insertion and maintenance, dysrhythmia management
• Rapid response and code team participation
• Charting in the Cerner system

Requirements

You must have a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience and an active Pennsylvania or Compact nursing license. BLS certification (AHA only) is required. Night shifts are preferred; straight day shifts will not be accepted. You'll work 4 weekend shifts per contract and must be available to work every other holiday.

Support and Flexibility

The unit has strong interdisciplinary support, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and a unit secretary. You may be asked to float within the hospital or to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius as needed.
