RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Available shift times include: 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, 10:45 AM to 11:15 PM, 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM, and 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Block scheduling allowed for nights; cannot guarantee 6 on 8 off schedule
• Rotating weekends required every other weekend
• Rotational holiday requirements with core staff
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating requirements
• Work specifically in the ED Boarding Area, responsible for admitted patients awaiting inpatient bed placement
• P4 Trauma Center with STEMI and stroke receiving capabilities
• 28 beds with 2 designated trauma/code rooms and a separate triage area
• 2 psychiatric/seclusion rooms available on unit
• Average patient volume of 70-75 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, medical and surgical conditions, overdose, trauma, and COPD across all age groups from infant to geriatric
• Administer and manage critical care drips including TPA, sedation, and paralytics
• Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips at bedside (no monitor tech on unit)
• Assist with difficult blood draws; phlebotomy available 24/7
• Work with respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen; RNs may draw radial ABGs
• Chart using EPIC electronic health records system
• Scrub color: Navy for RN/LPN; solid color required with no embroidery or patterns
• Fleece zip-ups permitted in grey, black, navy, or royal blue; solid undershirts in white, grey, or black
• Closed-toed shoes required; no Crocs permitted
• Prior travel experience required
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
