Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Neuro

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend night positions require availability Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
• Holiday rotation participation is expected
• Unit is a 20-bed Neuro floor with 14 floor beds
• Patient ratio is 1:5-6 for floor patients with nurse aides available at a ratio of 1:7-10
• Charge nurse support available 24/7
• Common patient diagnoses include neurosciences, deep brain stimulators, stroke, seizures, surgical/post-op spines, and neurological disorders
• Strong overall neuro experience required
• Recent EPIC experience required for charting
• Proficiency and frequency with G-tubes required
• Telemetry is present on the unit; RNs are not required to read strips but must document verification of monitor tech strip readings in EPIC
• Respiratory therapy is available 24/7; RNs are not required to have vent experience as floor vents are managed by RT and physician
• Titration of drips is done by physician orders; common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• Floating may be required to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E as first priority, then to other hospital units as needed
• Scrub color requirement is any combination of white and royal blue
• One orientation shift on the unit provided
• Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission); ACLS preferred
