PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kansas City, MO

Join BJC West - Saint Lukes Hospital Plaza as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit. You will provide direct patient care in a 19-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:5 across all shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.

Position Details

• Schedule: 3x12 night shifts per week
• Duration: 91 days starting October 12, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,266
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts match your regular shift length
• 8 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination)
• Holiday and Charge RN assignments as needed
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling not available
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility

Clinical Focus

The unit manages patients with medical cardiac step-down conditions, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, and multiple system diseases. Daily census averages 18 patients across 19 rooms.

Required Skills

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Central line and PICC line care and management
• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, and cardiac angiogram care
• Post-MI and post-hemodialysis management
• Renal failure management and heparin/IV insulin protocols
• High-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Blood product administration and wound care/wound vac
• PCA pump, surgical drain, and port management
• IV initiation and maintenance, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Previous charge RN experience preferred
• Patient populations: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics

Interdisciplinary support is available including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy. Floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required.
