PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kearney, Nebraska

CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska is seeking an RN for its Progressive Care Unit. This is a 105-day travel assignment starting October 12, 2026, with 3x12 night shifts (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) paying $2,359 weekly.

Unit Overview

• 40-bed PCU with average daily census of 24
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5
• Nurse aide/patient care tech support at 1:12 ratio
• Charge nurse present on each shift with assignment

Patient Population & Clinical Requirements

You will care for patients with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacemaker placement, and renal failure diagnoses. Required clinical competencies include:

• Titrate drips: Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
• Arterial line management
• Independent telemetry strip interpretation
• High-flow respiratory equipment

Scheduling & Staffing

• Every other weekend requirement
• Minimum 2 holidays required within contract
• Floating required to MedSurg or ICU for PCU acuity patients
• If placed on call and called back, must arrive within 30 minutes
• Hospital may cancel up to 3 shifts for assignments under 13 weeks
• RTO requests of 7 days or fewer submitted upfront; additional RTO not approved

Orientation & Systems

• 1 day of unit-specific orientation
• Pass/fail open-book exam during orientation—90% or higher required to pass
• Charting system: EPIC

Requirements & Policies

• Current RN license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required
• BSN not required
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails prohibited in patient care departments
