PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 6:45 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• 3 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided
• 2 years of stepdown experience in an acute care setting required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• Telemetry experience required - must be able to read and interpret Phillips telemetry strips
• Experience managing cardiac drips required including Cardizem (titrated), amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, Lasix, Bumex, heparin, Primacor, and Vaprosol
• Experience with BiPap, CPAP, Vapotherm, and high flow oxygen required (no full vents)
• Cardiology stepdown unit with 44 beds and nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• 4A side focuses on cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery; 4B focuses on smaller procedures, drips, and CHF patients
• Common diagnoses include post-op CABG, cardiovascular surgery, thoracotomy, VATS, EVAR, AAA repairs, carotid endarterectomies, stents, pacemakers, ablations, AICD, CHF, A-fib with RVR, and chest tubes
• Ability to pull pacer wires preferred; orientation provided if unable
• May float to ICU - stepdown patients only unless ICU experience is noted
• Must be flexible to work holidays and days surrounding holidays
• Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
• Dress code: Natural colored hair required, no fake nails or shellac, no facial piercings, no visible tattoos
• Must reside 75 miles or more from the facility address per strict radius rule - copy of driver's license required at submission
