PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kansas City, MO

BJC West – Saint Lukes North Hospital – Barry Road Campus is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 12, 2026, working three 12-hour night shifts per week at $2,266 weekly pay.

Role Overview

You will care for adult and geriatric patients in a PCU setting with a patient ratio of 1:5 across days, nights, and weekends. You may be assigned charge RN duties and teaching responsibilities as needed. Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required. Block scheduling is not available, and you must work eight weekend shifts per six-week schedule period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; previous charge and teaching hospital experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility

Core Clinical Competencies

You must demonstrate competency in cardiac telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-cardiac angiogram and MI care, pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery care, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube management, hemodialysis and renal failure management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, phlebotomy, peripheral line management, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (including titration), PCA administration, procedural sedation, CVA management, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacement care, surgical drains, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, isolation precautions, and wound care including wound vacs.

Schedule & Guarantees

Guaranteed hours are three shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts will match your regular assigned shift length. Maximum of seven days of requested time off is permitted.

Support Services

The facility provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary assistance.
