PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Position available for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Float pool position - will not be assigned a home unit
• Float between approximately 5 units across all Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other Metro campuses as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum of 8 weekend shifts required every six weeks (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling not available
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
• Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract
• 1 to 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred
• Patients served: Adults and Geriatrics
• Work settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown
• Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry on-unit monitoring, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, and management of Sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, Renal Failure, AFIB, GIB, and Stroke
• Preferred skills include: sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Special equipment used: Virtual Nurses, 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
• Charting system: Epic
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS, Kansas and Missouri license or compact license
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Interdisciplinary support available: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
