PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kansas City, MO

BJC West - Saint Lukes Hospital Plaza is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Kansas City, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 23, 2026.

Position Overview

You will work 4x12 hour day shifts at $2,468 per week. The position offers 36 or 48 hours per week with a guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13-week period. You will manage a 1:5 patient ratio and care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with medical cardiac step-down diagnoses including chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, and multiple system diseases. The unit maintains a daily census of 18 patients across 19 beds.

Scheduling and Requirements

Eight weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period are required, combining Friday, Saturday, and Sunday coverage. Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be needed as determined by unit needs. Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities is possible. No on-call is required, and block scheduling is not available. Your home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.

Clinical Skills and Certifications

You must hold current ACLS and BLS certification. Experience required includes cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-cardiac procedures (angiogram, MI, cath, surgery), central and peripheral line management, PICC line care, chest tube management, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation, and blood product administration. Competency in managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (non-titration), IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, feeding tube and wound care, renal failure management, and isolation precautions is essential. Previous charge experience and Epic charting system experience are preferred.

Support and Facilities

The unit uses Epic for charting. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries. Free parking is available.

Eligibility

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience is required. First-time travelers are accepted.
