PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with hours of 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every third holiday requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5 with nurse aide/patient care tech support at 1:10 or 2:20
• 35-bed PCU unit serving adult and geriatric patients
• Common diagnoses include cardiac, nephrology, strokes, diabetes management, and continuous EEG monitoring
• Required to titrate drips including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications
• Charge nurse available on each shift
• Floating requirements to medical floors, ICU, or rehab may be required
• Orientation consists of first week of onboarding followed by 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must reside outside of a 50-mile radius from facility
• Time off requests must be submitted upfront and are limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract
