PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 13-week travel assignment running from September 21, 2026.

Position Details

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 3 shifts per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
• Float to all inpatient units as needed

Clinical Environment

You will work in an 8-bed observation unit with a 1:4 patient ratio and 2 RNs per shift. The unit experiences high admission and discharge volume, with average patient stays up to 48 hours. You will care for patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, CHF, dehydration, pre-op cases, urology, and gastrointestinal diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Manage IV drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
• Read and interpret cardiac strips
• Document in the EPIC electronic health record system
• Assess, plan, and deliver direct patient care

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification (ARC or AHA accepted)
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• Experience with cardiac strip interpretation and EKG exams required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Background in observation units or step-down Med-Surg/Telemetry units preferred

Compensation & Logistics

Weekly pay is $2,453.76. Scrubs may be any color.
