Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Primary surgical unit caring for surgical patients
• Facility will consider 36 or 48 hour contracts
• Weekday shifts with some weekend coverage required
• 6 weekend shifts per contract
• Patient ratios of 5:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Charge experience required
• Floating to other units required when short staffed
• EMR system: Meditech
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• IV start competency required
• Care for patient age groups including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Key skills required include: accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, heparin and insulin management, IV insulin protocols, PICC line management, telemetry monitoring, wound care/wound vac, total joint replacement care, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• No block scheduling greater than three or four shifts
• Requests for time off must be approved and documented prior to start of assignment
