PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kansas City, MO

BJC West - Saint Lukes Hospital Plaza is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for their 24-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Kansas City, Missouri. This is a travel position running 91 days, with a start date of October 5, 2026.

Position Details

• Shift: 3x12 nights, with 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday rotation)
• Weekly pay: $2,266
• Patient ratio: 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6 as needed
• No on-call required; block scheduling not available

Clinical Environment

You will work in a fast-paced intermediate care unit that manages intermediate medical patients and surgical overflow. Common cases include TURP procedures, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic hernia repair, eye surgery, oral surgery, diabetic teaching, and wound care. The unit supports throughput from both the Emergency Department and Operating Room and serves adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Required Experience and Credentials

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
• BLS and NIHSS certification required
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility

Required Skills

Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, port access, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, PCA management, CVA management, oxygen delivery devices, isolation precautions, wound care and wound vac management, and catheter bladder irrigation.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous Charge RN experience, Trauma Level I experience, insulin drip titration, renal failure management, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drain management, tracheostomy care, and eye surgery experience.
