PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Night shift position with variable scheduling
• 36 or 48 hours available per week
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Patient ratio of 3:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Must adhere to float policy and float within scope of practice as needed
• 1 year of experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Virginia nursing license required; pending license accepted
• Must be proficient in skills including: accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, epidural analgesia, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, non-invasive airway management, orthopedic trauma, PCA management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, pre/post hemodialysis management, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, spinal cord injury care, tracheostomy care, traumatic brain injury care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Patients include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include anything surgical or trauma related
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
