About this role

Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit. This is a 89-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026, with a schedule of three 12-hour day shifts per week. You will earn $2,541 weekly.

In this role, you will provide direct patient care in a progressive care setting, managing patient assessments and coordinating care across the continuum. Your responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive patient assessments—physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural—and identifying discharge planning needs
  • Reviewing patient histories, diagnostics, and laboratory results, reporting abnormal findings to physicians and the care team
  • Developing and implementing individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members
  • Delegating and supervising the activities of licensed nurses and other healthcare personnel
  • Documenting assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
  • Evaluating patient and family responses to care and teaching; revising care plans as needed
  • Participating in shared leadership, staff education, precepting, and mentoring activities

Requirements:

  • Current, valid RN license in Arizona
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum one year of acute care hospital experience, with specialty-area experience within the past 12 months
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
  • Capability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Willingness to work a varied schedule including weekends, holidays, and float assignments per department guidelines
  • Standard precautions compliance due to exposure to blood and bodily fluids

Bachelor's degree and professional certification are preferred. This position offers you the opportunity to work in a structured progressive care environment where patients require closer monitoring and intervention than med-surg floors but less intensive care than ICU settings.
