Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-week contract with option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts available
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• No on-call required
• Will float within service line to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling not available
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
• Must pass Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Med/Surg Telemetry experience preferred
• Care for acute medicine patients including those with diabetes, renal issues, COPD, abdominal rule-outs, and cancer patients not currently receiving chemotherapy
• Unit does not care for surgical patients
• Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics
• Bedside procedures may include thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertion, and simple suture/debridement
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, heparin and insulin administration, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry, wound care/wound vac, PICC line management, PCA, phlebotomy, peripheral line care/management, and starting and maintaining IVs
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Maximum of 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
