Med Surg RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week Med Surg contract assignment. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Friday through Sunday, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. This role requires every weekend and every other holiday availability.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on the Medical and Pediatrics unit, treating adult patients only (travelers do not care for pediatric patients)
• Float to other inpatient units as needed
• Manage typical patient ratios of 1:6-7 on nights
• Chart using the EPIC system

Patient Conditions and Care Areas

You will care for patients with respiratory illnesses, stroke, neurological conditions, gastrointestinal illness, diabetic management, renal failure, urinary tract disorders, sepsis, wound care, clotting disorders, infectious disease processes, and acute alcohol withdrawal.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience
• Trauma Level II experience highly preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Associate Degree or Certificate in nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Additional Details

The contract includes up to 36 hours of low census unbillable hours that can be used in increments as needed, typically in 4-hour blocks. You may wear scrubs in any color.

Assignment start date is October 19, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,602.
