PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with variable scheduling - no schedule requests can be requested, approved, or accommodated
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; unit accepts first-time travelers
• Patient ratio of 4 patients per nurse on days, nights, and weekends
• Self-scheduling type
• 12 orientation hours required
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Daily census of 28 patients across 28 beds
• If one or two major holidays fall during assignment period, traveler is expected to work all applicable holidays; if three major holidays fall during assignment period, traveler is expected to work two of them
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tubes, CVA management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, insulin drip titration, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, PICC line management, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post hemodialysis management, pre/post neurosurgery, telemetry monitoring, total joint replacement care, and traumatic brain injury management
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• GA or compact nursing license required
