Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts required with day/evening ratios of 5:1 (stretch 6-7) and night ratios of 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
• Every other weekend required
• Float required to MS, ICU, and ED; if floating to ICU or ED, will care for Med/Surg level patients or serve as helping hands and will not practice outside of scope
• 1 year of recent experience required
• First time travelers accepted
• Block schedule accommodations will be attempted but not guaranteed
• Mandatory competency with phlebotomy and placing IVs required
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting experience is a hard requirement
• NY nursing license required in hand at time of submission
• Scrubs: Navy blue or white
• Orientation: 4 hours total — modules completed prior to start, 4-hour classroom session with educator, remainder of 12-hour shift spent orienting on unit
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with cardiovascular diagnoses and wounds
• Skills required include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, peripheral line care and management, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy
• Cardiac monitoring including interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, and rapid response team activation
• Special equipment: Hoyer lifts and wound vac
• PCTs available on all units to assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
