Med Surg RN Job in Parkersburg, WV

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a 33-bed Med Surg Orthopedic/Neuro unit at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting October 23, 2026.

Schedule and Pay

• 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every-other-weekend requirement
• Weekly pay: $2,208
• 30-minute lunch break included

Unit Details

• All private rooms with 1:6 patient ratio
• Common diagnoses: elective orthopedic surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures from falls, neuro-surgeries (back and neck), and general Med Surg cases
• Patient Care Techs available to assist with vitals, fingerstick blood sugar checks, ADLs, and Foley discontinuation
• Charge Nurse on site 24/7

Clinical Requirements and Experience

• Must have orthopedic patient experience and PCA pump competency
• IV fluids and PCA pumps are routine; no heparin or complex drips required
• CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen managed by respiratory therapy
• Remote telemetry available and monitored by third-floor staff; you are not required to read strips
• EPIC charting system experience required
• BLS (AHA) certification required

Orientation and Scheduling

• 1 day EPIC training, 1 day floor orientation with preceptor, independent practice beginning day three
• Travelers are scheduled based on unit needs; block scheduling available if unit needs are met
• Travelers float first and may be assigned to any Med Surg unit; if floated to telemetry, patients remain within your skillset
• Holiday coverage may be required

Dress Code and Submission Requirements

• Royal Blue scrubs required; if wearing a jacket, it must be royal blue. No hoodies or sweat jackets permitted
• Valid, unexpired driver's license must be submitted with all applications
