Med Surg RN Job in Appleton, WI

ThedaCare - Appleton is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Medical-Surgical nursing. You will work the night shift (12-hour shifts beginning at 5:30 PM) with 36 guaranteed hours per week, earning $2,404 weekly. Your assignment begins October 12, 2026.

Role Overview

You will float throughout Medical-Surgical units across ThedaCare Appleton and ThedaCare Neenah as part of the Clinical Resource Team (CRT). Potential float to smaller ThedaCare facilities may occur as needed. You will manage a patient ratio of 1:5–6, paired with support staff (LPN or CNA) based on acuity. Assignments are based on your skillset, ensuring you care for patients within your experience level.

Schedule & Requirements

• Up to every other weekend rotation required; every weekend candidates also considered
• Holiday rotation as needed
• No on-call or callback requirements
• Any missed shift must be made up within 2 weeks
• Scrub color: black

Patient Population

Primary cases include Medical-Surgical, General Surgical, Oncology, Renal, CIWA, CHF, COPD, Stroke, Surgical Trauma, and Orthopedics. Experience with pre- and post-catheterization, post-pacemaker care, and TR Bands is strongly preferred. Cardiac and neuro experience is a plus. Rare pediatric patients may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• Minimum 3+ years RN experience and 2+ years Med-Surg experience
• AHA BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• EPIC charting experience within the past year
• Associate Degree or Certificate (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
• At least 1 prior travel contract strongly preferred
• Previous travel experience required

Ineligibility

Candidates whose home or current facility is within 50 miles of ThedaCare Corporate Center in Neenah, WI are not eligible. AHA ACLS is preferred but not required.

Hours are not guaranteed during orientation week or when the unit is closed for holidays.
