PCU Registered Nurse Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center South is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit. You will deliver evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a 33-bed unit with a daily census of 30.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized nursing care using the nursing process
• Care for patients at 4:1 ratio on days and 5:1 ratio on nights
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, IV Teams, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Rapid Response Teams
• Contribute to effective patient outcomes through professional communication and coordination

Schedule and Assignment Details

• 3x12 night shift
• Self-scheduling with 12 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule (6 weekend shifts per schedule block)
• May be asked to float to a different floor or alternate campus
• 91-day assignment starting September 21, 2026

Requirements

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in progressive care, telemetry, or related service line
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Travel experience preferred
• Altera charting experience preferred, not required
• Must live 150 miles or more from facility

Compensation

• $2,089 weekly pay
