Operating Room RN Job in Des Moines, IA

UnityPoint – Iowa Methodist Medical Center seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room in Des Moines, IA. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 17, 2026, working 4x10 rotating shifts at $2,932 weekly.

Role Overview

You will work in a 16-bed OR suite as a circulating and/or scrubbing nurse, supporting an average caseload of 35–50 cases daily with turnover expectations under 20 minutes. The facility routinely operates 12–14 OR suites and maintains three Da Vinci robotic systems, Stealth neuro-navigation technology, and Synthes/Stryker orthopedic equipment.

Required Qualifications

• 24 months of current operating room experience
• Circulating and scrub experience required
• Experience in General, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases
• EPIC electronic medical records experience within the previous 3 years
• Trauma Level II facility experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Completed travel assignment within the previous 9 months (no first-time travelers)
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license required at submission
• Valid driver's license

Highly Preferred Experience

• Neuro, Orthopedics (trauma focus), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases
• Trauma Level I facility experience
• Professional reference from charge nurse, supervisor, manager, director, or CNO/COO within 24 months

Key Details

Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Ortho (trauma), Robotics, Gynecology, Urology, General, Pediatrics, and Transplants. You will maintain a 1:1 patient ratio and float across all campuses as needed. Scrubs are provided. Weekend call runs from end-of-shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday. You are required to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
