About this role

WVU Thomas Health – Thomas Memorial Hospital is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment on the Telemetry unit. You'll work 3x12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM) with every-other-weekend rotation and holiday coverage with core staff. Weekly pay is $2,280, with a start date of October 21, 2026.

Unit Overview

You'll be assigned to 3 Pavilion / 3T – Pulmonary & Observation, a 32-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients with respiratory conditions and medical diagnoses, including tracheostomy patients (non-ventilated). Your nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Monitor Techs are available 24/7, and Charge RNs read strips; you'll review strips each shift. Nurse aides support with a 1:10 ratio (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) and 1:15 ratio (7:00 PM–7:00 AM). A House Supervisor is available around the clock.

Clinical Responsibilities

You'll manage drip titration for Heparin, Cardizem (up to 15 mg/hr), Lasix, Dopamine (low-dose renal perfusion only), and Amiodarone. Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, tracheostomies on trach collar or room air, IV pumps, sequential compression devices, pulse oximetry, and specialty beds. You are responsible for tracheostomy care; respiratory therapy maintains ventilation. You may be asked to serve as Charge Nurse with optional cross-training (typical assignment ~2 patients) and may float to Med-Surg units (4P/5P) or the Emergency Department for boarded patients.

System & Dress Code

Charting is completed in EPIC. Wear navy scrubs (solid color, no embroidery or patterns) with closed-toed shoes—no Crocs. Approved outerwear includes WVU Medicine or solid-color fleece zip-ups in grey, black, navy, or royal blue. Undershirts must be solid white, grey, or black and match your scrub top color.

Orientation & Requirements

Orientation includes general hospital orientation, a full day of nursing orientation, computer training, and two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor. Required certifications are ACLS and BLS. You must have Med-Surg/Telemetry/Critical Drips/Trach Care experience and a strong cardiac background. Previous travel experience is required. Peritoneal Dialysis experience is preferred. A BSN is not required.
