PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Patient ratio of 1:4, with occasional flex to 1:6 as needed
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• No on-call required
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Block scheduling is not available
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Strong ventilator experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract period
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrub color: Navy
• Parking: Free
• Required skills include:
   - Cardiac monitoring: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring
   - Gastrointestinal: Feeding tube care and management
   - Genitourinary/Renal: Pre/Post hemodialysis management, renal failure
   - IV therapy: Accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting IVs
   - Medications: Heparin protocols, managing cardiac drips without titration, PCA, titrating cardiac drips
   - Neurological: CVA, traumatic brain injury
   - Respiratory: Care of ventilated patients, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of ABGs, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management
   - Isolation precautions
• Patient diagnoses include: Pulmonary stepdown, intermediate care, ventilated trach patients, COPD, pulmonary patients, AirVo, BiPAP pulmonary valve placement, CPAP, and high acuity respiratory patients
• Special procedures include: Endobronchial valves and ventilators
