PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• Charting system: Epic experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required
• Patient ratio: 1:5 on days (goal ratio is 4:1)
• Care for adult and geriatric patients in a high-turnover PCU environment
• Primary focus areas include chest pain management, expediting ER flow, and rule in/out MI
• Overflow from cardiology and medicine PCU with occasional post-cath patients
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and activation of Rapid Response/Code teams
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Administration and management of cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, and Lasix (no titration)
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, and non-invasive airway management
• Remote telemetry with monitors on unit; tele sitting implemented
• Floating required within skillset
• First-time travelers accepted
