ICU RN Job in Long Beach, CA

St Mary Medical Center Long Beach is seeking a registered nurse for its 32-bed intensive care unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 12, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,044.

Position Details

• 3x12 night shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Patient ratio of 2:1
• Unit structured in pods of 8 beds

Clinical Responsibilities

• Read and interpret your own cardiac monitor strips; no monitor technicians on unit
• Manage complex drips including pressors, antiarrhythmics, and sedation
• Ventilator management
• Float to telemetry and ED ICU/tele holds as needed
• Common patient diagnoses: neuro, cardiac, PCI, sepsis, ETOH, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and Camino ICP monitoring
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• Huddle and bedside report required

Requirements and Expectations

• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required
• Availability to work 2 of 3 major holidays, rotating with core staff
• Navy blue scrubs required
• No acrylic nails or gel polish during assignment

Orientation

• Day 1: 8 hours with ICU educator, 4 hours with preceptor
• Day 2: 12 hours with preceptor

You will join a team providing critical care in a structured, pod-based environment with direct patient accountability and clinical autonomy.
