PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Position available for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Patient ratio of 1:5 for days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; previous charge and teaching hospital experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Block scheduling is not available
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts must be the regular shift length assigned
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Patients served: Adults and Geriatrics
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), use of rapid response teams, blood product administration, central line care and management, PICC line management, peripheral line care and management, starting and maintaining IVs, phlebotomy, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, management of cardiac drips including titration, PCA, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, pre/post cardiac angiogram, post MI care, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, CVA care, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care and management, isolation precautions and PPE, wound care and wound vac
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
