ED RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a Registered Nurse in our 27-bed Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 14, 2026, with three 12-hour day shifts per week (11:00 AM – 11:00 PM).

About the Role

You will provide direct patient care in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with patient ratios of 4–6:1. Day shift operates with 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, and 2–3 medics, with additional RNs joining at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. You will work independently without floating to other units and have no on-call obligations.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-volume patient flow and acute presentations
• Perform resuscitation, RSI procedures, and sepsis interventions
• Administer stroke protocol including tPA administration
• Assist with central line placement and psych patient care
• Coordinate transfers to other facilities
• Document in Meditech EMR system

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2–3 years of ER experience required
• Completion of 2–3 previous travel assignments
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• High-acuity ER experience in fast-paced, high-volume settings
• Experience managing 5:1 patient ratios preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• ENPC, NRP, or NIH certification

Schedule and Compensation

You will work a 3x12 day schedule and are required to work four weekend shifts per four-week cycle (Friday or Saturday for night rotation; Saturday or Sunday for day rotation). Compensation is $1,940 per week. Navy blue or white scrubs are required.
