PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 13-week travel assignment beginning October 5, 2026.

Shift & Schedule

• 3x12 night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday rotation required
• Float to all inpatient units as needed

Role Details

You will work in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with a 1:4 patient ratio in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover. The patient population includes post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, acute CP/MI, and med/surg overflow including detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, and Fem Pop Bypass.

You must be able to pass an EKG test during the first week of hire and will work with medications including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU)
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience
• Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience
• At least one completed travel assignment
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Compensation & Details

Weekly pay: $2,583. Low census may occur in 4-hour increments; contract is eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours. Scrub color: any color.
