PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Rotating and night shifts only
• Care for complex cardiovascular patients in a newly established 16-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit
• Maintain a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery patients, those transitioning from critical care following critical illness, and patients recovering from cardiovascular procedures
• Perform continuous invasive pressure monitoring including arterial line and CVP monitoring
• Manage vasopressor infusions including phenylephrine and norepinephrine
• Manage inotrope infusions including milrinone and dobutamine
• Perform transvenous and epicardial temporary pacing
• Perform chest tube management
• Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV insertion
• Utilize and strengthen cardiovascular assessment, telemetry, clinical judgment, and early recognition of patient deterioration skills
• 2 years of progressive level of care nursing or critical care nursing experience required
• Cardiology and cardiac surgery specialty experience required
• ACLS certification required
• 2 years of critical care experience highly preferred (does not need to be cardiac ICU specific)
• Charge RN and preceptor experience preferred
• Any color scrubs required in accordance with facility dress code policy
