PCU RN Job in Morgantown, WV

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at WVU JW Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 15, 2026, with 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, earning $2,410.56 per week.

Unit Overview

The PCU is a combined stepdown and floor unit with 32 total beds: 12 stepdown and 20 floor. You will care for stepdown patients at a 1:3 ratio and floor patients at a 1:4–6 ratio. Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, and hospice or GIP hospice patients. Stepdown patients may have titratable drips, while floor patients receive PCAs, heparin, and similar medications.

Daily Responsibilities

• Monitor patients and collaborate with telemetry monitor technicians to read telemetry strips
• Administer medications and manage patient care according to unit protocols
• Chart in the EPIC system
• Float to any floor or stepdown unit as needed

Staffing and Support

A free charge nurse is budgeted per unit, and a house supervisor is always available. Nurse aides provide support, with up to 4 aides when fully staffed for 32 beds. You will work 2 weekends per schedule, with holiday shifts built into the permanent staff holiday schedule.
