PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week assignment in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) on a 3x12 schedule with guaranteed 48 hours per week, plus overtime after 48 hours worked.

About the Role

You will care for patients in an 8-bed observation unit with a 1:4 patient ratio. Your patient population includes individuals with anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre- and post-operative urology and GI cases, typically staying up to 48 hours. You will manage high-volume admissions and discharges and may float to other inpatient units, including the CTU (Coronary/Telemetry Unit), as needed.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Administer drips including Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Insulin, and Heparin
• Read and interpret EKG strips (EKG certification exam required during onboarding)
• Manage patient care using EPIC charting system
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
• Low census eligible in hour increments; up to 36 hours of low census unbillable hours per 13-week contract

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• NIHSS highly preferred
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
• 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• Associate Degree or Certificate (minimum)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
