Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Oncology

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend requirement with rotating holiday schedule
• 29-bed oncology unit on the 7th floor, travelers will only work on the floor (not outpatient)
• Patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
• Charge nurse provided out of staffing grid unless unusual circumstances
• Telemetry monitoring available via central monitor; not required to read strips
• Floating required rarely, only to medical acute unit
• 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
• Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
• Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end of life care
• Outpatient area patients may come to the floor to finish treatment if outpatient area closes
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• Scrub color required: Caribbean Blue
• BSN not required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required; no first-time travelers
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred; ONS required if administering chemotherapy
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility based on driver's license address
