Opportunity:

RN - Cardiac Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week offered
• Every other weekend required, plus 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period
• Self-scheduling with oversight from leadership - no block scheduling
• On-call required; frequency depends on patient census
• Float requirement applies
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6; must be comfortable taking up to 6 patients
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; PCU experience preferred but not required - must have Cardiac Tele experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• RTO maximum of 7 days; must be pre-approved and cannot be requested after signing
• 36-hour orientation; must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation
• Dress code: Navy blue or white scrubs, or a mixture of both; Novant t-shirts allowed all days; jackets must match uniform color and material (no fleece); no Crocs with holes
• Charting system: Epic (Dimensions); medication system: Pyxis; communication: SBAR
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include: IV start, telemetry, cardiac drips with titration (Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, etc.), TR Band, pre/post cardiac cath and PCI, pacemaker management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, heparin protocols, blood product administration, central line care, arterial line management, and non-invasive airway management
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Primary cardiac and stroke unit serving adult patients; high-acuity, fast-paced environment turning over 78-90 patients per week
• Patient diagnoses include: unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA/TIA, pre/post pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, and peripheral vascular procedures
• Special equipment includes: telemetry, pulse oximetry, high-flow O2 (stable patients), non-rebreather mask (palliative only), and BiPAP (chronic use only)
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services
