PCU Registered Nurse Job in Cartersville, GA

Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 98-day travel assignment beginning November 16, 2026, offering 3x12 night shifts at $1,916 weekly.

Position Overview

You will care for a patient ratio of 4 patients per nurse across days, nights, and weekends. The 28-bed unit serves adults and geriatrics, requiring skill in cardiac monitoring, critical interventions, and post-procedure management. You will float within the facility as needed and participate in self-scheduling, though the facility maintains scheduling flexibility and does not accommodate schedule requests.

Requirements

• Current Georgia or Compact nursing license
• Minimum 1 year clinical experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• Active ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred

Clinical Skills Required

You must demonstrate competency in accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tube management, CVA care, heparin protocols, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation, dysrhythmia management, isolation precautions, IV insulin protocols, vasoactive drip management, tracheostomy care, wound care and wound vacs, PICC line management, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care, hemodialysis management, and traumatic brain injury care.

Schedule and Time Off

Every other weekend schedule is required. There are no on-call obligations. You may take a maximum of 7 days pre-approved time off per contract. Holiday expectations: if one or two major holidays fall within your assignment, you work all of them; if three major holidays fall within your assignment, you work two of them. Twelve orientation hours are required.

Support Services

The facility provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
