Respiratory Therapist Job in Goldsboro, NC

University of North Carolina Health Care System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II to deliver advanced respiratory care across multiple patient populations and care settings.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive airway management, including endotracheal intubation, extubation, tracheostomy care, and aspiration of established airways
• Manage mechanical ventilation, including setup, function verification, specialized ventilator modes, patient monitoring, and weaning protocols
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and aerosol medication delivery
• Perform arterial blood gas punctures and basic bedside pulmonary function testing
• Conduct breathing exercises and patient education on respiratory techniques
• Transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per Air Care Protocol as needed
• Perform advanced procedures including umbilical artery catheter (UAC) insertion, umbilical vein catheter (UVC) insertion, IV insertion, intraosseous insertion, chest tube insertion, and needle decompression
• Manage extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support for cardiac and respiratory patients when assigned
• Perform pulmonary function testing when required
• Function independently with minimal supervision, serving as a clinical resource to staff based on experience level

Position Details:

• 12-hour shifts
• 89-day contract
• Start date: November 9, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,254
• On-call availability required for days, nights, weekends, and holidays
