PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kearney, NE

CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Progressive Care Unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 12, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,359.

Position Details

• Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM–6:30 AM)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–5
• 40-bed unit with average daily census of 24
• Every other weekend required
• Minimum of 2 holidays required during contract

Clinical Responsibilities

You will care for patients with cardiac medical/surgical diagnoses, dialysis, cancer, vascular conditions, sepsis, adult respiratory issues, stroke, post-stent, post-pacemaker placement, and renal failure. You will titrate critical drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin. You must be competent with arterial lines, read and interpret telemetry strips independently, and work with high-flow respiratory equipment. Floating to Medical-Surgical or ICU for PCU acuity patients is required.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Valid driver's license at time of submittal
• BSN not required

Unit Support & Orientation

A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes an assignment. Nurse aide/patient care tech support is available at a 1:12 ratio. You will receive one day of unit-specific orientation and must complete a pass/fail open-book exam, scoring 90% or higher to pass.

Additional Requirements

• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas
• If placed on call and called back, you must arrive within 30 minutes
• RTO requests of 7 days or fewer must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Hospital may cancel up to 3 shifts during this assignment
