PCU RN Job in Omaha, NE

You will work as an RN in the Progressive Care Unit at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026, with three 12-hour night shifts per week at $2,425 weekly.

Shift and Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• No on-call or standby
• Charge nurse role on each shift; rarely assigned patient care

Patient Care and Clinical Responsibilities

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 (1:3 for post-surgical patients within first 24 hours)
• Care for intermediate-care patients and downgraded CVICU patients with cardiac and vascular diagnoses, including CVAs, CHF, A-fib RVR, and cath lab patients
• Float to same-level and lower-acuity units as needed
• Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Nicardipine, Epinephrine, Cardizem, and blood pressure management medications
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory equipment: BiPAP, CPAP, Nasal Cannula
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; remote tele techs available with hardwired and tele box capabilities

Unit Support and Staffing

• Unit supports thoracic program, electrophysiology, cath lab, and structural heart services
• Hospitalist and intensivist in house 24/7; Cardiology on call after hours
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available at 1:18 ratio

Requirements and Orientation

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of experience with this patient population
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license at time of submittal
• 1–2 shifts of unit-specific orientation tailored to your experience
• Pass/fail open-book exam during orientation; minimum score of 90% required
