Emergency Department RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a Travel RN in our 27-bed Emergency Department. This is a 91-day assignment starting September 7, 2026, working 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) at $1,940 weekly.

The Role

You will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced, high-volume emergency setting. Patient ratios are 4–6:1, with day shift staffing that includes 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, 2–3 medics, and additional RNs added at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. There are no on-call responsibilities, and you will not float to other units.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage high-acuity patient care and emergent interventions
• Perform procedures including RSI, sepsis interventions, and stroke protocol with tPA administration
• Assist with central line placement and psych patient care
• Coordinate patient transfers to other facilities
• Work with Meditech EMR system

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2–3 years of ER experience
• Completion of 2–3 prior travel assignments
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, NIH

Scheduling

You will work four weekend shifts (Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days) in each four-week scheduling period.
