Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-7 on days and 1:6-8 on nights
• Must have a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers will be accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, active RN License
• BSN not required
• Common diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness
• RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, bumex, and lasix; cardiac drip titration is not required
• Respiratory therapy staff will administer breathing treatments, manage BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow O2; RNs are responsible for monitoring only
• Monitor techs located on level 5 will read and monitor telemetry for all patients; nurses are not expected to read and interpret telemetry independently
• Patient care techs available with a ratio of approximately 1:10-12; duties include vitals, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, applying heart monitors, bathing, feeding, toileting, and turning and positioning
• Rotating shifts scheduled in blocks, typically 2 weeks of days followed by 2 weeks of nights; schedules will not mix days and nights within the same week
• Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in the permanent schedule; no self-scheduling or block scheduling available
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Floating requirements include rotation to other Med-Surg, Med-Surg Telemetry, or IMC units for lower acuity patients
• Scrub color requirement: Navy blue for RNs
• Charting system: EPIC
• Orientation includes 1 day with educator and computer system training and 1 day with a preceptor
• Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver's license; 50-mile radius rule applies
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
