Med Surg RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment on the MAP Unit (Medical and Pediatrics). You will work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, scheduled as 3 days per week with guaranteed 48 hours of paid time. Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation is required.

Clinical Focus

You will care for patients across medical conditions including respiratory illnesses, stroke, neurological conditions, gastrointestinal illness, diabetic management, renal failure, urinary tract disorders, sepsis, wound care, clotting disorders, infectious disease processes, and acute alcohol withdrawal. Travelers on this unit do not take pediatric patients. Typical patient ratios are 1:4–5 on days and 1:6–7 on nights.

Scheduling and Flexibility

Float to all inpatient units as needed. The contract includes eligibility for 36 hours of low census unbillable time. Low census may be applied in hour increments; the unit typically uses 4-hour increments and may ask you to work 4 or 8 hours of a scheduled shift.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; Trauma Level II experience highly preferred
• Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Associate Degree or Certificate; Bachelor's Degree preferred
